Candidates who practise cases from Core 1 arrive at the CFE already fluent. The modules are not just hurdles to clear; they are where the skill gets built or does not.

THE 2027 TRANSITION

Work backwards from the CFE you are targeting

The current program is closing. Every module you write from here has to fit before the CFE you intend to sit, and there are only three sittings left. Decide which one you are aiming at before you plan the modules around it, not after.

If this is your target, your modules are already behind you. Nothing you enrol in now arrives in time.

The middle option

Room to finish your remaining modules first, and room for one rewrite in 2028 if it does not go your way.

The last one

The final CFE in the current program. There is no rewrite after it, so a fail here means transitioning.

December 2028 is the wallThe current PEP ends then. Finish everything by that date, including the CFE, or you transition into the 2027 CPA Professional Program and complete there instead. The new program launches in early 2027, with its first modules in May 2027 and its first exams in September 2027, so transitioning is a real option rather than a penalty. It is simply a different program with different assessment, and you should choose it deliberately rather than arrive at it by running out of time.

How to plan itCount the modules you have left, add the two capstones, and put them against your target sitting. Most candidates writing alongside a full-time job manage two modules a year comfortably and three at a push. If that arithmetic does not reach your target CFE, you have two honest choices: compress the schedule, or plan to transition. Both work. Drifting into December 2028 with modules outstanding does not.

Confirm the dates before you commitCPA Canada and the provincial bodies have revised this timetable before and may do so again. Check your own provincial body’s transition page before you plan a schedule around any of these dates.

Busy season is unpredictable. If you defer a module or have to retake one, you do not pay twice. Your enrolment comes with up to 24 months of access to the portal and to updated materials.

Materials stay currentOur notes and templates are reviewed against the current CPA Canada syllabus. When they change during your window, the updated version reaches you.

Access ends with the current programYour window runs to the end of 2028 at the latest. These courses are built for CPA PEP as it is examined today. They do not carry over to the 2027 CPA Professional Program, which will have its own separate courses.

Common questions about the modules

QCan I fit this in while working 40+ hours a week?▾

That is who it is built for. Replacing the handbook with condensed notes and targeted technical videos cuts the reading substantially, which leaves you time to practise cases. Most candidates fail modules not because they knew too little but because they never wrote enough under timed conditions.

QIs personalised case marking included?▾

No. These modules are efficient self-study tools designed to get you through the technicals quickly. If you want a CPA reading your work and telling you where the marks went, that is our CFE program, which includes marking.

QAre these updated for the current syllabus?▾

Yes. Our notes, templates and videos are reviewed against the current CPA Canada syllabus and updated when it changes. Updates made during your access window reach you automatically.

QDo I need to buy all of them?▾

No, and most candidates do not. Buy the module you are writing next. You write both Cores and choose two Electives, so the typical candidate buys four in total, spread across two years rather than all at once.

QWhich electives should I take?▾

If you are in public practice and intend to sign audit opinions, Assurance is effectively required. Beyond that, choose the two that match the depth role you want to write on Day 2 of the CFE, because that decision starts here rather than at Capstone. If you are unsure, ask us before you buy.

QI failed a module. Will this help me retake it?▾

Usually yes, provided you know why you failed. Most retakes go wrong because candidates study harder the same way rather than differently. If you ran out of time, the templates and case practice are the fix. If you are on a final attempt, look at the 4th Attempt course, which addresses that specific situation.

QHow is this different from what CPA Canada already gives me?▾

The official materials are written to be complete. Ours are written to be sufficient. Completeness is the right goal for a reference work and the wrong one for someone with ten hours a week. We tell you what to skip, which no official source will ever do.

QDoes this prepare me for the CFE as well?▾

It builds the foundation. The technical knowledge and the case-writing habits carry directly into Capstone and the CFE, and candidates who practise from Core 1 arrive far more fluent. It is not a substitute for CFE-specific preparation, which is a different program with marking and full mock cases.
